Think Like An Organism

The city of the future won’t be built. It’ll be grown.

I made that case on the TEDx stage. And I meant it literally. Not as inspiration. As engineering.
We build cities like machines, pouring concrete, running pipes, burning fuel, shipping waste away.
Biology doesn’t work that way. Biology doesn’t produce waste. It produces the building blocks of everything: carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen.
We’re watching the transformation happen in real time. Fruit waste becoming leather. Methane becoming biodegradable plastic. Mycelium replacing foam.
Not in the future. Right now.
The question isn’t whether biology can build a city. It’s whether we’re willing to stop thinking like engineers and start thinking like organisms.
